In this time of local

and global

upheaval

one needs to ask

what is important to focus on

something big is happening

thousands of years of history

has led humanity

to this present situation

history is not unrelated

to today’s upheaval

and if truth be known

or intuited

this history is secretly

meaningfully weaving itself

towards a divine vision

thus wanting to understand

the present

chaotic global situation

is akin to trying to understand

a beach

from a few grains of sand

for we may try

and connect the grains

or link the dots

in order to gain sight

into the whole picture

only to discover

sooner or later

that our picture

is woefully incomplete

and yet

there is another approach possible

of which

ancient wise ones knew of

another approach

that is still possible today

even if couched

in contemporary terms

a call from silent spaces

of the cosmos

both macroscopically without

and microscopically within

where spirituality and science

meet and co-fertilise

and act as

a reminder to our souls

that the real place of knowledge

is within

not a knowledge of measurement

calculation comparison and duality

but rather a place of being

a place of boundless space

a place of autonomous agency

so what is important

to focus upon

is consciousness of being

being conscious

being alive in a physical vehicle

being a conscious human being

that can choose everything

what and how to think

what and how to do

because behind the screen

of phenomena

the mystery of conscious being

is purposefully prompting

towards its own fulfilment

and here is the place

that transcends all thoughts

all subjectivity

for here subjectivity

can be at one with objectivity

inner and outer perceived

as inside and outside

of a single wholeness

here is peace

here the soul

can rise above all anxieties

fears and doubts

here Consciousness

aligns with its own source

here loving kindness

will warm hearts and minds

and drive away beasts

of lower impulses

here I will meet you

in a unified

harmonious beatitude.

at this disturbing time of upheaval

to navigate through it all

to discover a way

to overcome the difficulties

or to discover a peaceful inner place

from where to observe

without having to know

or judge what is observed

because this is not easy

for we are so groomed

by social conditioning

and our own habitual tendencies

to want to feel in control

to want to know

what is happening

to be on the side of right and true

but existence is complex

on the level of phenomena

thus the simple place

is the eye of the cyclone

a still calm place

which doesn’t mean

we can do anything we want

or do nothing at all

but rather means

that from a calm place

of simply being

we can observe

without anxiety or frustration

we can surrender

the desire to feel in control

we can feel aligned with the cosmos

afterall life is given to us

we are not creating it

with our minds

we can trust it

we can trust the cosmos

and observe the blown up dramas

of our physical and material lives

as surface waves

that have taken on

a life of their own

but in truth

are moving shadow plays

whereas you as observer

are infinitely greater

your thoughts too

are shadow movements

but you as ‘thinker’

are infinitely greater

be at peace!
